Product Description

A wealth of features, state-of-the-art technology, ease of use and maintenance, ultra-modern design, and extremely bright output are just a few of the many accolades for this 3-LCD Installation projector.

Delivering an extremely bright 4,000 ANSI lumens at XGA Resolution and featuring a unique, new angular design body, the VPL-FX40 is an excellent projector for detailed high-impact multimedia presentations in almost any venue.

The VPL-FX40 Installation Projector is one of the first to incorporate our new BrightEra Inorganic alignment layer 0.79-inch LCD Panels manufactured by the Sony Panel Group.

BrightEra High Temperature Polysilicon (HTPS) LCD panels represent the very latest technology in precise liquid crystal alignment, offering increased reliability and higher picture quality. In comparison to conventional LCD panels, BrightEra technology greatly augments the panel’s resistance to ultraviolet light, which is a key factor in panel reliability. In addition, an increase to the aperture ratio from traditional panels enables the projectors to produce an incredibly bright image, while avoiding colour separation or the "rainbow effect" of the final image that can affect some other projection technologies.

The VPL-FX40 offers XGA resolution to project clear and crisp images even on large screens up to 600 inches (measured diagonally). With its outstanding functionality, simple operation and network capabilities, the VPL-FX40 projector provides you with the tools to perform seamless presentations.

The projector's ability to accept a broad array of signals, including those from sources equipped with the latest High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), gives you a wider choice of content so as to increase the dynamics of your presentations.

Also available: VPL-FX40L lens-less version offers a choice of 3 bayonet lenses to meet the requirements of your specific applications

*Networking Presentations

When the VPL-FX40 projector is installed on a LAN via RJ45, presentations can be projected from any PC on that network whether connected via a LAN cable or wirelessly. In addition, an innovative new feature - High-Speed Image Transfer over IP Networks means that because the VPL-FX40 projector employs efficient compression and transmission techniques, it can receive and project images via IP networks for effective presentations from any networked PC

Monitor Out

The VPL-FX40 projector can display the image simultaneously on a large screen and on an additional monitor (via a 15-pin D Sub connection), so that the user can face the audience and still see the information being shown.

Low Fan Noise

For an undisturbed presentation, quiet operation is very important. The noise level of the VPL-PX40 is 28dB in low mode which is considered less than a whisper.

RS-232C

Connections include an RS-232C port for control of the projector.

Password Protection

When this function is activated a password is required to use the projector (if the password is lost, Sony is able to retrieve it).

Control Panel Lock

This function locks the controls on the top and side of the projector, to prevent unauthorised or unintentional use of the controls. Functionality can be switched "on" or "off".

Centered Lens Design

This function locks the controls on the top and side of the projector, to prevent unauthorised or unintentional use of the controls. Functionality can be switched "on" or "off".

Off and Go

No cool down time needed, just switch off and pack away! The fan continues to cool the VPL-FX40 after the power supply is removed, enabling users to unplug the projector immediately after use, without damaging the lamp or optics. Other projectors need to remain connected to the power supply to cool the projector after use.

Direct On / Off

Ceiling mounted projectors notoriously remain on after the meeting concludes and the attendees leave the room which in turn burns unnecessary hours on the lamp and electricity. The VPL-FX40 can be set to skip the standby mode, so that it can be turned on / off directly using a main switch.

Power Zoom/Focus/Picture Shift (Horizontal and Vertical)

The Zoom, Focus, and Horizontal and Vertical Picture Shift functions available with the projector’s supplied power-operated lens and optional lenses (except VPLL-1008) can be controlled both from the projector control panel and the supplied Remote Commander™ unit. Images can be easily adjusted to the desired settings both during installation and when the projector is in use

ID Function for Multi-Projector Installation

Multiple Projectors, one Remote Commander! The VPL-FX40 projectors have a built-in ID function, so each projector can be controlled independently from a single Remote Commander unit.

ECO INFO

Halogenated flame retardants are not used in cabinets or printed wiring boards. Corrugated cardboard is used for the packaging cushions. Standby power consumption: 0.5 W.

Versatility

The VPL-FX40 projector is ideal for use in the executive boardroom, large classroom, gymnasium or even a mid-size auditorium due to its exceptional picture quality, multiple easy of use features and 4000 ANSI Lumen Brightness.

High Brightness

The VPL-FX40 uses BrightEra 0.79-inch 3-LCD inorganic panels to achieve a leap forward in picture quality within its category for a high maximum brightness setting of 4,000 ANSI lumens. This means neither natural nor artificial lights need to be 'blacked-out' in order for the images to be seen with maximum clarity. The VPL-FX40 also offers a 3,400-lumen mode for more economical operation when higher brightness is not needed.

Flexible inputs and outputs

A cornucopia of features - 2X RGB inputs, 5BNC, RS232C, HDMI (HDCP), RJ45 with Network Presentation*, composite video, S-Video and component video and Monitor Out, the VPL-FX40 is packed.

The Magic of Sony 3LCD Technology

The Sony VPL-FX40 adopts a 3-LCD system using three 0.79-inch inorganic LCD Panels, also known as high-temperature polysillicon or HTPS. A 3-LCD projector uses diachronic mirrors to divide white light emitted from a high-density lamp into three basic colours of Red, Green and Blue. The beams pass through three LCD (HTPS) panels before being reassembled by a prism and projected onto the screen. 3-LCD projectors achieve fine-gradation in dark areas while the high light efficiency ensures good focus and vivid colours, even in normal lighting conditions. 3LCD technology avoids the 'rainbow effect' or colour separation to the final image that can affect some other projection technologies, such as DLP. Images produced on a 3-LCD system are bright, create a more natural colour and are gentle on the eye
