    Developed and manufactured exclusively by Sony, the α A700's Exmor CMOS Sensor maximizes the performance potential of the α lens lineup with 12.2-megapixel resolution that's rich in highlight and shadow detail. Additionally, a 3-layer low-pass filter preserves high-resolution detail while suppressing moiré effects and color artifacts.

    Equipped with SteadyShot® INSIDE image stabilization, the A700 compensates for shaky hands so you can capture crisp, sharp images at shutter speeds 2.5 to 4 steps slower than would otherwise be possible without using a flash or tripod.

    The A700's BIONZ image processing engine captures colors just as the human eye perceives them. Plus, BIONZ refines the signal even more by screening out noise during both RAW data conversion and image processing, faithfully reproducing the full range of detail, contrast and color that is captured by α lenses.

    A center dual cross 11-point Auto Focus sensor system significantly boosts Auto Focusing accuracy and speed to ensure fewer missed shots. The 11-point layout allows great freedom in how subjects are framed, and the system's quick response heightens accuracy when shooting moving subjects.

  • A Strong, Lightweight Body

    For rugged and reliable performance under adverse conditions, the top and front covers of the A700's body are constructed of a strong, lightweight magnesium alloy. Within the camera, a high tensile-strength aluminum alloy chassis and high-rigidity engineering-grade plastics further contribute to high structural integrity and low weight.

  • Anti-Dust Protection for Cleaner Images

    The A700 features an anti-dust coating which prevents static electricity buildup on the low-pass filter, and makes it easier to remove any stray dust particles inside the camera with a blower. Plus, the image sensor itself is fitted with an anti-dust system that dislodges dust particles every time the camera is switched off.
